Welcome!

My name is Victoria and I am a student at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida. I am pursuing a degree in Anthropology as well as the International Studies Certificate offered by the college. My understanding of global themes and issues has been greatly increased by participating in a variety of internationally-oriented lectures, trips, and other activities. Additionally, I have developed an appreciation for meaningful interaction with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. I will graduate from Santa Fe in the spring of 2015, and transfer to the University of Florida to continue my studies.

During the summer of 2014, I attended a study abroad program to China. This was my first time traveling outside of the United States. I visited historical sites like the Forbidden Palace and the Great Wall, and connected to several of the Chinese students at Beijing Union University. I gained from this trip a passion for meaningful cross-cultural experiences, as well as greater confidence in myself and my academic interests. You can read more about the impact of my time in China here.

I have served in leadership positions in a number of student organizations with an international focus. I am currently Vice President of the World Travelers study abroad club and the Anthropology Club. I have also been Vice President to the Students in African Studies club and Secretary to the Chinese Club. My involvement on campus has been invaluable in terms of developing leadership and organizational skills, as well as some close friendships.
