Welcome!
My name is Victoria and I am a student at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida. I am pursuing a degree in Anthropology as well as the International Studies Certificate offered by the college. My understanding of global themes and issues has been greatly increased by participating in a variety of internationally-oriented lectures, trips, and other activities. Additionally, I have developed an appreciation for meaningful interaction with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. I will graduate from Santa Fe in the spring of 2015, and transfer to the University of Florida to continue my studies.
During the summer of 2014, I attended a study abroad program to China. This was my first time traveling outside of the United States. I visited historical sites like the Forbidden Palace and the Great Wall, and connected to several of the Chinese students at Beijing Union University. I gained from this trip a passion for meaningful cross-cultural experiences, as well as greater confidence in myself and my academic interests. I have served in leadership positions in a number of student organizations with an international focus. I am currently Vice President of the World Travelers study abroad club and the Anthropology Club. I have also been Vice President to the Students in African Studies club and Secretary to the Chinese Club.
